Guliafshan Tariq – The Biker Girl of Pakistan

You may have heard about biker girls and solo traveling girls around the globe especially in European countries where equal rights are in practice by letter and spirit but here is Guliafshan Tariq – The biker girl of Pakistan defying all misconceptions and misunderstandings about Pakistan. By traveling throughout the country on her bicycle first and later on a motorbike she proved that Pakistan is a peaceful, tourism friendly country with equal rights and opportunities for women, all they need to take initiative and follow their dreams. She is the first biker girl in Pakistan, a role model for many young girls and presenting real a beautiful face of a peaceful Pakistan, even better than politicians. Guliafshan is promoting peace, harmony and tourism in Pakistan.

By profession, Guliafshan is a computer engineer from NUST, holing Commandant’s Gold Medal. She got a job in one of the top multinational companies in the country soon after her graduation. She still Pursuing her Career as LIMS Consultant a Multi National Company in Dubai and Making Balance with her Passion. She says that her traveling passion is transferred through her father, who was an army officer. In spite of his amputation after the 1971 war, he took her mother (Grandmother of Guliafshan) to Saudi Arabia for Hajj by road on his car.

Guliafshan started her sports career by wall climbing and participated in National Wall Climbing Championship 2013 but couldn’t Succeed. Later she attended Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul and got her certification in paragliding. She holds many records in Pakistan Book of Records and some are as follows:

  1. The National record for cycling over 4693 meters at 5 degrees, covering 1000 kilometers in just 9 days on her bicycle to Khunjrab, world’s highest international border between Pakistan and China. She started from Islamabad and reached Khunjrab by passing through Taxila, Abbottabad, Bisham and Chilaas. During her journey, she faced rains and other severe weather conditions.
  2. She is the first female who attempted solo paragliding flight at the height of 8800 ft in Boni Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Pakistan.
  3. By riding 3000+kilometers in just 20 days on her motorbike through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa she bagged national record.

Guliafshan Tariq is a trained MMA fighter, social activist and a member of National Youth Assembly. She is also a brand ambassador of ‘Ladies Pakistan’, ‘Pakistan Children heart foundation’, ‘Clean and green Pakistan’ , ‘ Agency 21’  and so many other organizations. She also encourages young girls to get self defense training and says “women around the world must learn to live their life with all their strength, might and height of will-power! We can’t give justice to affected women’s from violence but we can train our young girls”.

Through her motorbike riding, she is exploring the real Pakistani culture of different areas, provinces and natural beauty of Pakistan. She is presenting the real image of Pakistan to the world that was demolished with terrorism. Along with women empowerment and painting a positive canvas of Pakistan, it will also help to promote tourism in Pakistan.

Her upcoming ride “Biker Girl Meets Punjab” will start on 24th September 2018 covering entire Punjab province on her motorbike. She will explore and present to world the real Punjabi culture which is even not known to most of the Punjabi peoples living in cities. Along with Harappa, home of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization and many other popular, tourist spots, Punjab also has less popular but worth visiting places.
